Background

In cooperation with NGO International Aid (IA) and World Health Organization /Department of Health System Policy & Operations/ Health Technology & Facilities Planning (WHO/ SPO/ TFP), the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE) provided a 1-week HTM (or Medical Equipment Management -MEM) seminar for the Kosova Ministry of Health (MoH), many health system leaders, and the MoH Biomedical Engineering Department (BMED) in October 2004.  In December 2004, two Canadian clinical engineering mentors were sent to Kosova for three weeks to further assess the current situation of BMED services, in partnership with Sami Rexhepi MD, MoH Regional Health Officer Pristina and MoH leader for BMED.  Their executive summary highlights the priority HTM challenges noted here.
